We were in a local beach-side café the other day and got talking to the café owner about what was most popular on his (pretty extensive) menu.
He serves burgers, pizzas, pasta, that kind of thing. All homemade and delicious. Nick had ribs and I had calamari, if you’re wondering (80/20 rule applies*!)
His most popular dish amongst teenagers?
Salmon and greens. Oh yes.
I would have put money on it being the pizza with the lot.
He said there’s a growing awareness about healthy food amongst young people here. Which is lovely to hear. It’s music to my ears.
It made me think that if there’s a healthy AND delicious choice available, people will often go for it. Sure, there are days when we fancy a burger with fries and I’m a big believer in the 80/20 rule:
*eat healthily most of the time and allow yourself the flex and freedom to indulge now and again
But remember this: You're only ever ONE decision away from eating something nutritious that makes you feel fabulous.
Don’t beat yourself up about what you had yesterday or what you might have tomorrow. Just make your next choice a healthy one. And the one after that. And keep going.
If you indulge, and I hope you will this week, enjoy every bite then get back on track, one healthy choice at a time.
Have an amazing Christmas celebration this week.
