Hope you had a fabulous Christmas.
One thing that affects many of my clients is finding the time to exercise. It seems to be just another thing on the to-do list and often gets overlooked for ‘more important’ things.
Here in Melbourne, I’ve seen loads of people out walking in the mornings. A decade ago, it would’ve been ‘power walking’ when people used to pump their arms swinging dumbbells and strap on ankle weights (remember those?!). These days, it’s more like ‘brisk walking’ with no fancy extras, other than a dog accompanying some.
A key part of the Glorious Wellness philosophy is ‘move more’. I purposefully don’t call it ‘exercise more’ because that can bring up guilt about the hardly-used gym membership or the cross-trainer gathering dust in the corner or mental blocks like ‘sounds too hard / too sweaty / it's not for me / I’m not sporty…’.
The easiest way to move more is to walk.
No equipment needed, you go at your own pace, alone or with a friend, you can do it anywhere AND it’s free. It’s really one of the best ways to move your body.
I have only one rule when it comes to walking: To be effective, it needs to be done daily.
Yep, that’s right….every single day. I want you to commit to just 30 minutes of walking each day.
It will get your blood flowing, oxygen circulating, joints mobilising, muscles moving, brain clearing, cheeks glowing. It will energize and uplift you.
So put on your coat and shoes and get outside for your glorious-wellness-inducing walk. Start today.
Have an amazing New Year celebration and wishing you a wonderful, healthy, happy 2016.
Until next week….
