It's been a month since I got back from my trip to Oz. It felt fabulous to hang out with family and friends, to have some sunshine on my skin in January and to seek out lots of healthy inspiration in Melbourne. Coming back to the grey, cold and as I write this today - wet - weather has got me hankering to book another trip somewhere sunny. Especially as the last month has been super busy with clients, speaking, running workshops and filming videos for the new Glorious Wellness YouTube channel. I'm dreaming of a break somewhere restful and restorative with lots of spa treatments! Wouldn't that be nice....?!
Speaking of which, I'm delighted to bring you a guest post today from Stella Photi, founder of Wellbeing Escapes, the leading wellness travel company in the UK and specialists in healthy holidays.
There are no prizes for crashing and burning
The world has gone a bit mad. Whoever thought it was a badge of honour to push yourself to the brink of exhaustion? We pile endless pressure on ourselves to meet professional and personal commitments yet there never seems to be enough time to get through our to-do list which leads to yet more stress. It’s been said that stress is the biggest killer of our times – it can weaken our immune system and lead to health problems from heart disease to high blood pressure.
It doesn’t have to be that way. Wellness travel is the fastest growing sector of the travel industry as we wake up to the fact that proactively taking control of our health is way more important than deadlines and to-do lists. What could be more beneficial than actively investing in your wellbeing instead of waiting until you hit a brick wall? Like anything in life, embedding regular healthy habits will serve you much better than pushing yourself to the edge and then having to take drastic action to recover.
A wellbeing holiday can address specific areas such as stress or sleep issues, with professional advice on nutrition, exercise and treatments. It will help give you the tools to make changes that are sustainable and there are a myriad of destinations where the programme is tailored to your personal needs.
Wellbeing Escapes offers a personalised approach and as we've tried and tested all our destinations, we know exactly which will suit each client. It may be the nurturing Kamalaya in Thailand or the pioneering SHA Wellness Clinic in Spain or it may be the yogi Shanti Som in Spain. We have some wonderful destinations to restore your energy reserves and leave you feeling fabulous.
Don't wait until you're running on empty. Make sure you factor in some well-deserved downtime.
Best wishes, Stella
